First Foundation Awards $250,000 to Nonprofits through Its Revamped ‘Supporting Our Communities’ Program

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- First Foundation Inc. (NASDAQ: FFWM) (“First Foundation”), a financial services company with two wholly-owned operating subsidiaries, First Foundation Advisors and First Foundation Bank, today announced the recipients of its 2019 ‘Supporting Our Communities’ corporate philanthropy program.

After six years of working with over 150 nonprofit organizations distributing cash grants and consulting services valued at over $2.5 million, First Foundation was inspired by the transformational work going on in our communities and saw the opportunity for more employees to share their skills. The new program’s goal is to build a deeper commitment, thus truly building “corporate nonprofit partners.” In doing this, the list of recipients was finalized with ten unique recipients whose causes range from fighting homelessness, supporting after-school education, building strong local economies, and combating hunger.

The 2019 ‘Supporting Our Communities’ grant recipients include:

“At First Foundation, our goal is to provide exceptional client service by building meaningful relationships, so it is natural we would do that with our community nonprofit partners,” said Scott F. Kavanaugh, CEO of First Foundation. “The ‘Supporting Our Communities’ initiative has afforded us great opportunities to connect with nonprofits doing amazing work, and now we are evolving the initiative, giving our employees opportunity for deeper engagement and impact.”

First Foundation was built on the principle of giving back in the communities in which its employees work and live. The revamped initiative gives more opportunities to serve and helps build stronger ties with the nonprofits as the cash grants are considerably larger and more time is reserved for consulting services from the community impact and philanthropy services teams. With offices located in California, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Honolulu, Hawaii, this initiative reaches every region served by First Foundation.

“Our team evaluated how we give back, and we wanted to ensure we were doing it in the most meaningful way possible. With this in mind, we decided to revamp our ‘Supporting Our Communities’ program in hopes of deepening the engagement with our team and leveraging our employee’s talents to support the great work of our nonprofit partners,” said Tyler Resh, Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing and Strategy and Community Impact team member.

In addition to the cash grant, the recipients are eligible to receive First Foundation’s in kind professional guidance related to their nonprofits including: fundraising; donor cultivation and stewardship; gift planning design; staff and board training; campaign planning; board building; development of critical policies and protocols; organizational planning; and counsel on ensuring best practices in their own fiscal matters such as cash management, investment policies, and strategies.
